This Month I am delighted to share with you Kay & Ade’s Wedding. With it’s vintage feel and personal touches.

Kay & Ade have been together for 3 years, after meeting on a skiing trip to Ellmau in Austria.

Last November Ade took Kay on a London theatre break weekend, he had booked a champagne afternoon tea in The Connaught Hotel and proposed to Kay there.

The wedding day stretched over an entire weekend and was filled with love, family, laughter, tears and sunshine!

The farmhouse was a superb location for couples brave enough to have 20 people staying all weekend!!

Kay’s eldest son Peter, her four brothers and sisters, and her best friend travelled from Australia and Ireland. Kay saif  “by joining our two families together in the farmhouse – they had a wonderful time getting to know each other by helping us prepare the farmhouse for the wedding day.”

“The standard of the venue, the views, the facilities at the farmhouse were second to none and I would happily recommend the Acton Scott Estate in Shropshire and particularly Henley Farmhouse. Because Ade and I are a ‘mature’ couple, we wanted a celebration that was intimate, meaningful, relaxed and just great fun.”

“On the day of the wedding, we were all up early setting the tables and do last minute preparations.  Ade and our guests travelled to Ludlow Registry Office in the vintage coach and followed with my two sons driven by my father in law so that Ade did not see my wedding dress prior to the ceremony.  My two gorgeous sons accompanied me up the aisle and I was so proud of them both.  Following the ceremony, we all jumped aboard the coach and chugged along country roads with people tooting and waving at us.  We popped the champagne corks and had wonderful canapés on the lawn before gathering around for speeches which made our guests and Ade and I laugh and cry all at the same time!!  We all tucked into the buffet eating at the tables laid with jugs of country flowers and tealights in our party tent.  This was followed by impromptu games of French cricket and rounders.  The ladies were dashing around barefeet in the their posh frocks while the sheep and cows looked over the fence wondering what on earth was going on!   The men were down to shirtsleeves and all thought they would be in the next Ashes series! That evening, we lit candles in Moroccan lamps on the patio tables and Chinese lanterns hanging from the tent and danced outside on the patio to music playlists we had created ourselves.  We had also asked our guests to choose five of their favourite party tunes and there was much hilarity working out who had chosen which tune!  We even had ‘My Old Man’s a Dustman!’   The day after the wedding, we cooked a huge full English breakfast for everyone and then went for a walk up to the Acton Scott Working Farm museum.  We returned home for afternoon tea and wedding cake and then had a BBQ in the evening and my husband played his guitar and sang for us all around blazing chimineas.  We had the time of our lives.”

Kay’s wedding was filled with all the wonderful things that meant so much to them both.

Kay had a bespoke comb, with turquoise daisys to match her earrings Ade had bought her.

Kay & Ade would like to Thank:

Michele Powell-Bevan, at Country Flowers in Tenbury Wells who was responsible for our utterly beautiful country style wedding flowers.  Kay said “Michele instinctively captured the style and ‘flavour’ of our day.  Michele doesn’t have a website but a visit to her shop in Tenbury will instantly convince you that she has wonderful style.”

Lowri Akerman (Hairdresser based in Tenbury Wells) “who came out to the farmhouse and styled my hair (using your beautiful comb) and we had booked her to style the hair of 3 other guests.  She sweetly offered to ‘tweak’ the hairstyles of my two Australian sisters and to top it all, she drove all the way back to my house in Cleobury Mortimer to fetch some tablets I had forgotten to take with me to the farmhouse!!  Nothing was too much trouble for her.”

The Vintage Coach – was hired from Boultons of Shropshire “I can thoroughly recommend hiring the vintage coach from Boultons of Shropshire based in Church Stretton.  I guests absolutely loved it!” Kay said – Visit www.boultonsofshropshire.co.uk

Call the Caterers produced wonderful canapés,  a delicious cold buffet with yummy puds and a superb evening buffet.  “All our guests were very impressed with the quality and presentation of the food and the chef and waitresses were so unobtrusive and calm! Dave Whitehurst helped us choose our menu but it was very difficult because it all sounded so delicious!  Would definitely use them again.”   www.callthecaterers.co.uk

Kay & Ade would also like to thank her family and friend and everyone who made their day so very very special.

All the suppliers recommended above receive our Seal of Approval.
